Pumping Station Campen
The function of pumping station Campen is to pump the excess of water which is in the drainage area. This area has a size of 9,455 hectare. Campen has a pumping capacity of about 700 m3 per minute. This large capacity is necessary, because 1 mm precipitation equivalent to 1 litre per square meter.
Per ha a volume of 10,000 litres of water must be pumped away to maintain the desired ground water level. For this task, the pumping station has two Stork screw centrifugal pumps with a diameter of 1.66 m. Originally the two pumps were driven by two water-cooled 435 hp diesel engines but since last year one motor broke down it has been replaced by a direct drive electric motor.
