Pumping Station Kandia
The quantity pumping station Kandia in Duiven is the greatest pumping station of Rijn & IJssel Water Authority. It provides for the release of water from an area of 10,000 hectares, including more than 3,700 hectares of German territory.
The 40-year-old pumping station is due to a thorough renovation. The pumps and diesel engines are technically depreciated and the reliability is at stake. The pumps of Kandia are to be revised. In 2007, stated that the total pump capacity from 600 m3 to 1000 m3 per minute doesn't need to change.
The current diesel engines and gearboxes will be replaced by modern, slowly rotating electric motors. All mechanical and electrical installations are also renewed. 40% of the costs for the renovation will be borne by the German Water Association.
