Pumping Station Quarles van Ufford
Last year the major renovation of the electrical pumping station Quarles van Ufford completed. This large pumping station is located at Moordrecht. Since its construction in 1952 there were small changes, but because the capacity was low and the yield fell, major adjustment were necessary.
In 2006 the work launched with the replacement of the three pumps, motors and gearboxes. The gearboxes are eliminated by the special designed direct drive motors. The capacity is now guaranteed for the next 30 years because the pumping station is now pumping 1,173 m3 per minute. That is more that 70 million litre every hour! Pumping station Quarles van Ufford works completely automatically.
